VEDECOM welcomes the 3rd International Workshop on Vehicular Adhoc Networks for Smart Cities (IWVSC’2019)
The 3rd International Workshop on Vehicular Adhoc Networks for Smart Cities (#IWVSC’2019) was held on 13 November 2019 at mobiLAB. It was jointly organised by VEDECOM, the Institute of Research Technology SystemX, Télécom SudParis and the French Research Institute for Digital Sciences (INRIA), with the participation of academics from Malaysia and Pakistan. The purpose of the day was to discuss recent developments in the field of vehicular communication technologies (V2X) and their interactions with the future Smart Cities. And to promote research initiatives relating to V2X communication in order to improve the efficiency and safety of the transport of the future.
Over the course of the day, lectures by experts addressed issues concerning connected roads and infrastructure, emergency traffic management, intelligent transport systems, 5G, and ITS drones. There were three successive sessions of scientific presentations: “Intelligent traffic and V2X communication systems”, “New technology for vehicular networks”, and “Vehicular networks and safety”.
There were additional contributions from two keynote speakers. Dr Hamid Menour, an expert at the Qatar Mobility Innovations Centre, talked about the opportunities presented by ITS drones for future mobility. Dr Marc Lascote, Senior Researcher at Orange Labs, described the challenges and solutions presented by the introduction of 5G for vehicular environments.
